ACEH TAMIANG — Chairman of the Aceh Tamiang branch of the Indonesian Advocacy Agency (BAI), Syamsul, has expressed his full support for Hendriko Lubis, Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Union (SWI) Aceh Tamiang, to run for Chairman of the Aceh Tamiang Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).
The statement was made during a meeting at a café in Karang Baru on September 17, 2026. Hendriko Lubis expressed his appreciation for the support from Syamsul, as well as from members of the media, community organizations, and chairpersons of various sports branches across Aceh Tamiang Regency.
Syamsul emphasized that his support for Hendriko Lubis should not be interpreted as an attempt to bypass the established selection process. On the contrary, he said that stronger support for a candidate makes it even more important for the selection process to be conducted openly, fairly, and accountably.
“Do not focus only on who will become Chairman of KONI. What is far more important is how the process is conducted. There must be no room for hidden interests or decisions that create doubts. Let the rules, transparency, and the voices of the sports community determine the outcome, because we know that KONI is a neutral institution that must be trusted in carrying out its mandate,” Syamsul stressed.
He further stated that the responsibility now rests with the leadership of KONI Aceh Tamiang to ensure that the election process is conducted fairly and transparently.
“The ball is now in the hands of KONI Aceh Tamiang. Show the public that the election of the KONI chairman is not merely a contest for a position, but an important moment that will determine the future of sports in Aceh Tamiang and contribute to the region’s progress,” Syamsul concluded.
